About Paul D Carruthers Ltd
Paul D Carruthers Ltd is a Waikato-based forestry management company providing practical forestry advice and management services to landowners throughout the Waikato, King Country and Central North Island.
With extensive experience across forest establishment, silviculture, harvesting and the Emissions Trading Scheme, our team works with landowners throughout the life of their forest.
We manage both small and large forestry blocks and understand that every property is different. Our approach is to work closely with each landowner to understand their goals and provide practical advice that makes sense for their property.
Whether you're establishing a new forest, managing an existing block, planning a harvest or investigating the potential of carbon and the ETS, we're here to help.
Our approach
We believe good forestry management comes down to three things:
Practical advice
We focus on solutions that work on the ground and suit the individual property.
Independent thinking
We provide objective advice to help landowners make informed decisions about their forests.
Long-term relationships
Forestry is a long-term investment. We aim to build lasting relationships with landowners and remain involved throughout the life of their forest.
Where we work
Based in the Waikato, we work with landowners throughout the Waikato, King Country and Central North Island.

"Paul has been involved with our forests from when they were planted, through to harvesting. During that time, all of our dealings have been professional and timely. He has given us options and advice on all aspects of the forest care and harvesting. Harvesting was a breeze as it was well planned and set out in the contract. Now we are set for the next phase, replanting."

We engaged Paul D Carruthers Ltd in 2019 to plant 133ha of the rougher & steeper parts of our farm in Awakino. Paul D Carruthers Ltd managed everything from woe to go & as such we didn’t have to worry about anything. Their team that plants/prunes/thins, does the job to an exceptionally high standard to the extent that we now have a forest that is healthy & thriving & is a credit to Paul D Carruthers Ltd & their team. They are constantly monitoring the forest & nothing is a problem. Their knowledge is second to none & we would not hesitate in recommending Paul D Carruthers Ltd to anyone thinking about planting or managing a forest.

“I have worked with Paul and Devin for over 30 years, Paul has done a great job producing high quality logs that were easy to market and ended up being worth nearly double the original estimate. All the work from planting to pruning and then logging was a done quickly and to a high standard and I got on with farming.
Would recommend them both to anyone thinking of getting in to the forestry industry.”

Bailey Ingham has been involved in 2 forestry syndicates that were established in 1992. P D Carruthers Ltd was engaged at that time to advise, manage and carry out all aspects of the operation including planning, planting, releasing, pruning and thinning. The company has also monitored and reported on the forests throughout the years and managed the insurance and carbon credits.
We have always found Paul to be very professional and competent with industry personnel commenting the forests have been established and maintained to a very high standard. Paul is very passionate about his profession and his commitment to clients is exceptional.
